Unerhört - a series of workshops for children and teenagers

Unerhört - meaning both "outrageous" and "never-heard" in German - is a project led by Theater Magdeburg enabling children and teenagers to discover what theatre and opera are all about. During one week, students were able to try out different forms of theatre activities by attending seven workshops, from singing to drama and dance.

Olga Ilieva, Ballet Master at Theater Magdeburg, taught children modern dances while Tillmann Staemmler, Drama Teacher, gave a workshop on choral speech. Moreover, the actor and trained dancer Oktay Önder learnt urban dance along with children and teenagers. During another workshop, circus and dance teacher Carsten Ast taught some acrobatic numbers to children while Carsten Ast, a reknown author from Magdeburg, moderated a workshop on Creative Writing. Finally, Christina Paul, a freelance theatre and music teacher, introduced the children to the percussion instrument Boomwhacker while Lukas Macher, independent artist and music educator, gave a community music workshop to show the participants how to invent and perform music together.

At the end of the week, they were given the opportunity to present their results on the stage of the opera house.
